About the Founder
Sammie’s Kids Foundation (SKF) was created in spring of 2004 by a young 6 year old named Samantha Dilbeck. Every year she and her mom would take toys and clothes to the Children and Family Services Department in Salinas. Samantha got such joy out of giving to others that she wanted to do it all the time. So her dad, mom and an attorney got together and began developing the Foundation. Sammie’s Kids Foundation was formed in February 2005.

Our Mission
Foster and maintain self esteem and enhance the quality of life for children.

About the Program
Sammie’s Kids Foundation is supported 100% by personal and private donations from the community. SKF has been collaborating with the Department of Social and Employment Services and the Family and Children’s Services and the Monterey County Receiving Center to develop this much-needed outreach program for our community’s abused and neglected children.

The program is designed to provide basic needed items to children ages 0-17 who are in protective custody. When a child is removed from their home the Department of Social Services takes them to the Monterey County Receiving Center where they are cared for, for a very short time. When they leave the Receiving Center they are usually wearing the same raggedy clothing they came in with.

Foundation Goals and Objectives
Our goal is to help foster and maintain self esteem and build self confidence in children who have gone through tragic events. By helping to improve self esteem in abused and neglected children, we are improving their quality of life. They will make more friends, do better in school, adapt more easily to any new environmental changes and feel better in general. We hope to be able to give all 400+ children who go through the Receiving Center annually a SKF package.

How the Program Works
Sammie’s Kids Foundation receives a call from the Monterey County Children and Family Services with the basic information of the child in protective custody and with in 12 hours an individualized SKF package will be dropped off for that child.

What is in the Package
A SKF individualized package will include 3 days worth of clothes, a pair of pajamas, shoes, undergarments, a toy, stuffed animal, toiletries and diapers(when applicable).

What Happens With Your Donation
As a monetary donor you will help finance the foundation in purchasing the much needed items for the children.
